Farmers mainly use pesticides to protect their crops. Mainly pesticides are poisonous and usually people come in contact with these. While using pesticides some content enters into body through face, nose and skin with which farmers have to face many difficulties such as headache, dizziness, vomiting, lack of appetite, cold, etc. For its prevention, proper use of pesticides are important and at the time of using pesticides, protected clothes should be wear so that adverse effect of medicines will not remain on the farmers. To protect farmers from these problems dress is recommended by Haryana Agricultural University, whom by wearing this farmers can spray protectively.
Jacket and Pyzama: For spraying Jacket and Pyzama are made from water resistant clothes which absorb the sweat. Cotton cloth is used internally which absorbs the sweat. To cover the body, the chains are put in the front of the jacket and arm cuffs are replaced with plastic. To cover the head, forehead and nose cap is attached with the jacket. On the front end of the cap, plastic is put so that they can’t get off again and again.
Mask: Its usage is mainly done at the time of spraying. At both the ends elastic is attached so that it can be easily removed and worn. Its shape is made in the way so that mouth and nose gets covered completely. By its usage upto 95% is protected from soil and chemical vapours.
Spectacles: At the time of spraying the vapours spread into the air which will cause redness in the eyes or swelling or sometimes water starts coming out of the eyes of the spraying person. To avoid these problems farmers can use spectacles so that eyes can be covered well.
Safe gloves: Use of chemical resistant gloves are recommended for the protection from the damages of insecticide. Also use gloves at the time of seed treatment.
Safe shoes: Use of safe gloves are recommended at the time of spraying. Don’t use shoes made from clothes because it absorbs the chemical which is harmful. Always use rubber or trap suppressor cloth made shoes.
All these clothes provide protection to the farmers while spraying. So always use recommended dress for farmers at the time of spraying.
After using these clothes at the time of washing points to be keep in mind:
- Immediately after spraying wash clothes in Luke warm water.
- Wash these clothes separately from other clothes.
- Don’t soak these clothes.
- Dry up these clothes by reversing them
- Gloves, shoes and spectacles are also washed immediately after spraying in Luke warm water.
