Yellow mosaic virus in moong and its control

A viral disease transmitted by whitefly and is usually observed on moong. Irregular, yellow and green patches develop on leaves of the diseased plants. Infected plants produce no or only a few pale pods.

Control:

Eradicate the virus-affected plants early in the season and bury them. Control white fly, the insect vector, by spraying the crop with a manually operated sprayer, 375 ml of Malathion 50EC or 250 ml of Roger 30EC or 250 ml of Metasystox 25EC using 80 litres of water per acre. If necessary, repeat the spray at 10 days interval.
