Early varieties:
Co 89003 (Co 7314 X Co 775) : The variety gives high amount of sucrose content and is high yield giving variety. It has long medium thick sugarcane which is purple in color which is greenish from some parts. Its sugarcane has soft peel, which is suitable for sucking. The jaggery made from this variety is light golden in color which is of A1 quality. Its farming is mainly done in Haryana and Punjab states. The variety is moderately resistant to red rot. It is very important to manage root borer and wilt disease because this variety is tolerant to wilt and is resistant to water logging. It gives an average yield of 37.7 tonnes/acre and contains 18.45% of sucrose.
Co 98014 (Karan-1) : The variety is made by crossing between Co 8316 X Co 8213 in 2007 for North West region. It is long and straight growing variety, yellow in color taken green color, and is without thorns and cracks. The variety is suitable for summer season. The invasion of pests and wild pigs is less because of the presence of excess fibre. It gives an average yield of 35-40 tonnes/acre and contains 17.89% sucrose content. The variety is moderately resistant to red rot and smut and is tolerant to wilt and water logging.
Co 0238 (Karan-4) : The variety is made by crossing between Co 8102 X Co 775 in 2009 for North West region. Its sugarcane is dark brown in color which is medium thick to cylindrical in shape. The variety is suitable for growing in drought, water logging and in saline soil. The variety is resistant to red rot and smut disease. It gives an average yield of 33-40 tonnes/acre and contains 17.89% sucrose content.
Co 0239 (Karan-6) : The variety is released in 2010 in North West region. Its sugarcane is medium thick and is green-purple in color. This variety gives 17% more yield, 21% more sugar and 3.8% more sucrose. It gives an average yield of 30-35 tonnes/acre and contains 18.58% sucrose content.
Co 0237 : The variety is developed in 2012 for North West region. The variety is suitable for sowing in water logging areas which is resistant to red rot disease. It gives an average yield of 29-31 tonnes/acre and contains 18.78% sucrose content.
Co 05009 : The variety is released in 2013 for sowing in North West region. It bears long sugarcane which is cylindrical in shape and light purple in color. The variety is moderately resistant to red rot. It gives an average yield of 31.6 tonnes/acre and contains 17.44% sucrose content.
Medium late sowing varieties:
Co 0124 (Karan 5) : The variety is released for sowing in North West region. The sugarcane is medium thick, yellow in color, and is cylindrical in shape. it contains12.65% fibre content and the jaggery made from this variety is of A2 quality.
Co 05011 : The variety is released in 2012. The sugarcane is medium long, medium thick, purple in color taking green color and is cylindrical in shape. The variety is resistant to red rot disease. It gives an average yield of 34 tonnes/acre and contains 18% sucrose content.
