In India, barley is considered poor man’s crop because its cultivation requires less investment. It can be easily grown in any climatic condition like rainy, saline / alkaline and less fertile areas. In Barley crop, problem of wide leaf weeds is high. For this crop one or two hoeing are must. This protects the moisture in the field and also controls the weeds.
Let’s learn how to prevent weeds in the barley crop.
• Grassy weeds – For weeds like wrinkle grass, wild oats and fodder grass Axial 5 EC should be used. Mix 400 ml of Axial 5 EC in 200 litres of water, and spray it in per acre after 40-45 days of sowing.
• Mixed weed – Use Axial 5 EC for weeds like narrow and wide leaf. Mix 400 ml with lid 20W P 8 g + 200 ml Surfactant or Affinity 40 D.F. Mix 20 grams in 200 liters of water and spray it after 40-45 days of the sowing.
• Wide leaf weed – For the control of it, the 2, 4-D amine 58 S.L. 500 ml or affinity 40 DF . Mix 20 grams in 200 litres of water and spray it after 40-45 days of sowing.
